A look at Becky Cloonan’s art for Batman #12

dcwomenkickingass:

The Source has posted a page from Becky Cloonan’s guest spot on Batman and you can see it below. As I wrote when this was announced this make Becky Cloonan one of the few women to draw for one of the Batbooks.

I did have to wince a little at the quote on the Source:
“The Bat-Office owes a huge thanks to Scott Snyder for hooking us up with Becky Cloonan,” BATMAN editor Mike Marts told THE SOURCE. “Becky’s an outstanding artist who has accomplished a lot of great projects in her career. We’re honored to have her illustrate BATMAN #12!”

I would certainly hope that DC had Becky Cloonan on their list of top artists — I mean isn’t their strategy, as stated as SDCC, that they want to “hire the best people?” — not sure why Snyder would have to be “hooking” them up.

Here’s a look at the page that features the new female character that I understand will have a key role in Batman, Harper Row.

Dammit now I have to buy this as a matter of principle BECKY CLOONAN I LOVE YOU MORE THAN MY VALUE MY GRUDGE AGAINST NEW 52

Guest Post: Why We Need Wonder Woman

dcwomenkickingass:

While I on vacation this week I have a series of guest posts from readers, bloggers and other writers. This guest post is by Josie Campbell whose name you may recognize from her work writing news at Comic Book Resources. Josie is writing on the importance of Wonder Woman. It’s a terrific essay and I ask that you read the whole thing. Her thoughts follow,

Of all the superheroes in all the world there is only one, in my eyes, who has fundamentally changed our culture as a whole — and it ain’t Superman, Batman, Spider-Man or any of the other superlative-Men who get trotted out in that capacity.

That superhero is Wonder Woman.

Chills.

I must cosplay as Nightwing.

darth-grayson:

I don’t know how.  I can’t make anything.  But I’m going to do it. I will spend lots of $$$ if I have to.

If you or someone you know can help me out with this, please let me know, and I will be very very very grateful.

SUP COSPLAYER FRIENDS, HELP THIS GUY I KINDA KNOW OUT.

I’ve picked up some stuff by osmosis/my own unpursued interest in costuming, so here’s what I thought of off the top of my head:

  1. You’ll want to start with a black catsuit or zentai suit for the body. You can get them pretty cheap from Milanoo, but I know a lot of people have problems with the company, so idk it needs some research?
  2. You can build the mask out of craft foam, and attach it to your face with spirit gum. Most cosplayers use it for building armor, because it’s lightweight and can be made sturdy quite easily. It’s easy to find in large sheets, easy to cut, easy to glue (all you need is Elmer’s!). Seal it with Mod Podge because it’s quite porous, then paint.

The best part about Nightwing’s costume is it is super simple, so even though there are versions with layers of bulletproofing and gauntlets and shit you can leave that for possible future endeavors.

Chuck Taylor DC Comics - Batmobile (Kids 1-3 yr), $37, Converse
Although the current DC Comics x Converse catalog is pretty sweet, none of the designs have really made me rush out to purchase a pair of kicks; partially because I seldom wear sneakers, and primarily because when I do, I already own a pair of vintage Batman x Converse hi-tops. That said, it appears that I’ve finally encountered the only exception: if these Batmobile Chucks were available in adult sizes, I would stock up on a few backup pairs and wear them EVERY FUCKING DAY.
Get on it, Converse.

Olympe: GET ON MY FEET. RIGHT NOW.

"Most 18-34 males actually have much broader tastes than the old white guys making this shit, and in cases where they don’t support female-centric media, it’s often because that female-centric media is such condescending bullshit that even many women consider it unforgivably misogynistic (Twilight, Sex in the City, etc.). By contrast, My Little Pony (of all things) has cultivated such a crossover fandom that even the virulent homophobes of 4chan have become “bronies.” Quite seriously, if you can’t manage to make superheroes cater equally to both genders, without alienating one or the other, when fucking MY LITTLE PONY can do it, you’re too goddamned dumb to deserve to even a fraction of the big bucks that the people in charge of these franchises are earning to premise over their ever-shrinking audiences."

Everyone’s lost but me! - Well, it does seem meant to appeal to Homer Simpson (via myfavoritedemons)

Ahahahahaaafsdfsd (via dumbthingswhitepplsay)

Clearly My Little Pony is a lot deeper than I suspected.
